Bridge Spherical bearings tests, the vertical loading capacity testing through experiments

Jan. 03, 2024

Bridge Spherical bearings tests, the vertical loading capacity testing through experiments is as bellow

1. Prepare testing equipment: Prepare a testing machine, it can apply vertical loads to ensure its accuracy and stability meet the requirements. At the same time, prepare test materials such as spherical bearings, supporting structures, loading devices, and measuring instruments.

2. Install spherical bearings: Place the spherical bearings on the supporting structure, adjust the position of the bearings, and ensure their stability and levelness. Then, place the loading device on a spherical bearing to ensure good contact with the support.

3. Load application: Use a testing machine to apply a gradually increasing vertical load to the spherical bearing, and record the magnitude of each applied load and the corresponding deformation of the bearing. During the process of applying loads, a slow and uniform speed should be maintained to avoid sudden application of excessive loads.

4. Observation and recording of data: During the process of applying load, observe the deformation of the spherical support. If there are obvious abnormal phenomena such as deformation or fracture, the test should be stopped immediately and the corresponding load value should be recorded. Meanwhile, use measuring instruments to measure the deformation of the spherical bearing and record the data.

5. Data analysis: Based on the recorded load and deformation data, draw a load deformation curve to analyze the bearing capacity of the spherical bearing. Generally speaking, the bearing capacity of spherical bearings can be determined by observing the trend of curve changes and corresponding load values.

6. Repeated testing: In order to obtain more accurate data, tests can be conducted on the same spherical bearing times and the data can be averaged. Meanwhile, comparative tests can also be conducted on spherical bearings of different specifications and materials to evaluate the differences in their bearing capacity.

Through the above methods, the bearing capacity of spherical bearings can be effectively tested, providing reliable basis for engineering practice.
