Architectural High Damping Rubber Bearings (HDR)

High damping rubber bearing, which is to add various compounding agents to natural rubber to improve the damping performance of rubber (increase hysteresis loss, reduce its storage modulus), and then use this rubber with damping effect to It is a laminated product formed by hot vulcanization of steel plate and rubber with similar structure of ordinary rubber bearing. The product has good seismic isolation performance and a wide range of applications. It is a new type of building isolation product with high cost performance. 

 

High damping rubber bearing (HDR), similar with lead rubber bearing, belongs to seismic isolation bearing. It is composed of special rubber with excellent damping attribute, sandwiched together with layers of steel. Damping is an influence within or upon an oscillatory system that has the effect of reducing, restricting or preventing its oscillations. Thus, bridge bearing made of high damping rubber has excellent vibration reduction ability. Available with excellent flexibility and high restoring ability, high damping rubber bearing can absorb some input energy of the earthquake before the energy is transmitted to the substructure and can be restored after the earthquake.

Working principle

Through improving the rubber formula, the damping of rubber material is increased, thus, the damping ratio of high damping rubber bearing can approach to 15% - 18%. During the earthquake, the high damping rubber bearing will have excellent seismic effect by producing large deformation and small rigidity. Because the elastic stiffness of high damping rubber bearing relies on its deformation degree. When the deformation is small, the stiffness is large, otherwise, the deformation is large and the stiffness will be small. And the high damping rubber bearing utilizing this principle generates excellent seismic isolation function.

 

Features of high damping rubber bearing:

● High damping rubber bearing features high vertical loading capacity, b recovery ability and high damping ability.

● Full of hysteretic behavior, high damping rubber bearing can produce seismic isolation effect for small, middle or big earthquake.

● High damping rubber bearing, itself producing the seismic isolation function, does not need install other devices. Thus, the cost of maintenance and repair is reduced.

● Temperature influences on the flexibility and damping performance of the high damping rubber bearing is extremely small, thus, high damping rubber bearing has a wide range of applied field.

● Due to adopting the new developed nature rubber, high damping rubber bearing has excellent creep property.

● Covered with EPDM, the internal rubber of the high damping rubber bearing is completely protected which is resistant to the ozone and ultraviolet, thus, the high damping rubber bearing has better aging-resistant ability.
